Jordan employs a significant number of Indian nurses across its hospitals and private healthcare sector. If you have a Jordanian job offer and are looking at your document checklist, you will typically see a combination of attestation requirements, a good standing certificate, a PCC, and nursing council registration all listed together without much explanation of what order to do them in or how they connect.
This guide covers everything an Indian nurse needs to arrange for a Jordanian healthcare job, what each document is, who issues it, how long it takes, and how everything fits into a single working timeline so you are not scrambling at the last minute.
The Jordanian Nursing Council — What It Is and Why It Matters
The Jordanian Nursing Council (JNC) is the national regulatory authority for nursing and midwifery in Jordan. Every nurse working in Jordan, whether Jordanian or international, must be registered with the JNC before they can legally practice. Your Jordan employer cannot formally activate your employment contract until your JNC registration is in place.
For international nurses, the JNC registration process involves submitting your educational qualifications, proof of registration with your home nursing council in India, work experience documentation, and, in many cases, a good standing certificate from your Indian nursing council. The JNC also has its own specialty examination system for certain nursing specialties, conducted through Pearson VUE, though this applies primarily to specialization-level roles rather than general nursing positions.
Knowing that JNC registration is a prerequisite for employment, not something you do after joining, helps you plan your document preparation correctly from the start.
Document 1 — Attested Nursing Degree and Mark Sheets
Your BSc. Nursing or GNM degree certificate and mark sheets need to go through the full attestation chain for Jordan before they are accepted by the JNC or your Jordan employer.
The attestation chain for educational documents goes: notarization in India, then HRD attestation from the state where your university is located or SDM attestation in Delhi as the faster alternative, then MEA attestation in New Delhi, then Jordan Embassy attestation in India at the Jordan Embassy in New Delhi or Mumbai.
After you arrive in Jordan, your employer or the JNC may additionally ask for Jordan MOFA authentication on these attested documents before they are formally accepted on the Jordan side.
The SDM route takes approximately 10 working days for the complete India-side chain and is the route most nurses use when time is a factor. The HRD route is slower, typically 6 to 10 weeks total depending on the state.
Start your degree attestation the moment your Jordan offer is confirmed. It is the document that takes the longest and cannot be rushed at the state or MEA level.
Document 2 — Good Standing Certificate from Your Indian Nursing Council
The JNC and most Jordan healthcare employers require a certificate of good standing from your Indian nursing council confirming that your registration in India is currently active and your professional record is clean.
This certificate is issued by your Indian nursing council, whether it's KNMC for Kerala nurses, the Karnataka Nursing Council, the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, or any other state council. Your council sends the certificate directly to the JNC or the receiving authority in Jordan. You cannot submit it yourself.
The certificate must be recent. Most Jordan authorities require the good standing certificate to be not older than 6 months at the time of submission. This means timing your application is important. Apply for it when your other documents are nearly ready, not months in advance, so it is still within the validity window when you submit everything to JNC.

Document 3 — Jordan PCC
A Jordan Police Clearance Certificate may be required by your Jordan employer or for your work visa process. If you have previously lived or worked in Jordan and are now applying for a new position there, a Jordan PCC confirms your criminal record status from your previous stay.
For Indian nurses going to Jordan for the first time, you may be asked for an Indian PCC at the employment or visa stage. For nurses who have worked in Jordan before and are now applying from India, the Jordan PCC covers the period of your previous Jordan stay.

Document 4 — Experience Letters from Previous Hospitals
Your Jordan employer and the JNC will typically ask for experience letters from every hospital you have previously worked in. These must be on official hospital letterhead, signed and stamped by the authorized signatory, and must mention your role, dates of employment, and area of work.
For experience letters from Indian hospitals, these do not typically go through HRD or MEA attestation unless the JNC specifically asks for it. However, your employer may ask for them to be attested to confirm their authenticity. Check with your specific employer or recruiter what format they require.
For nurses who previously worked in Gulf countries, experience letters from those Gulf hospitals also need to be provided and may need to go through the respective Gulf country's attestation before being submitted in Jordan.
Document 5 — Passport Copy and Photographs
Your current valid passport copy covering the first and last pages is required for JNC registration, your work visa application, and most other Jordan employment documentation. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended Jordan joining date.
Recent passport-size photographs are needed for most applications. Carry multiple copies in the correct size and format.
The Correct Order to Arrange Everything
This is the question most nurses ask when they see the full document list for the first time. Here is the logical order based on which process takes the longest and which is time-sensitive.
Start attestation of your degree and mark sheets immediately after receiving your job offer. This is the longest process and cannot be compressed at the state or MEA level. Running this in parallel with everything else is the key to keeping your timeline on track.
Apply for your good standing certificate from your Indian Nursing Council at the same time as your attestation, but time it so the certificate arrives within 6 months of when you plan to submit to the JNC. If attestation takes 3 to 4 weeks, apply for the good standing certificate around the same time.
Apply for your Jordan PCC once you know it is required by your employer or the visa process. This takes 10 to 12 working days and can run parallel to attestation.
Gather and organize your experience letters as you go, ensuring they are in the correct format and from authorized signatories.
Submit everything to your employer and JNC together once all documents are ready. Submitting an incomplete set means JNC or your employer puts your registration on hold until the missing items arrive.
If You Are Moving From Another Gulf Country to Jordan
Many Indian nurses move from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, or Qatar to Jordan as their next posting. If this is your situation, a few additional points apply.
Your attestation of Indian documents may already be partially done from your Gulf posting. However, the Jordan Embassy attestation step is specific to Jordan and may not have been done for your previous Gulf destination. Check which steps in the chain are already complete before starting from scratch.
Your previous Gulf employer may ask for a good standing certificate or a PCC from Jordan after you leave, just as Jordan will ask for similar certificates from your previous country. If you plan to move from Jordan to the UAE, the UK, or Ireland in the future, keeping your JNC registration active and your professional record clean throughout your Jordan posting makes that process straightforward.
Leaving Jordan—What Your Next Destination Will Ask For
This section is for nurses who are already in Jordan or about to complete their Jordan contract and are planning their next move.
If you are moving to the UAE, the UAE authorities (DHA, HAAD or UAE MOH) will ask for a good standing certificate from JNC confirming your professional record during your time registered in Jordan. This is a separate document from your Indian Council good standing certificate. JNC issues it, and it goes directly to the UAE Dataflow or relevant authority.
If you are moving to the UK for NMC registration, NMC requires a police clearance certificate from every country you have lived in for 12 months or more. Jordan falls under this requirement.
If you are moving to Ireland for NMBI registration, the same principle applies.
Planning for these documents before you leave Jordan, while you still have easy access to your Jordan employer and JNC, is significantly easier than trying to coordinate them after you have already relocated.
Common Mistakes Indian Nurses Make with Jordan Documents
Starting attestation too late is the most common timing mistake. Degree attestation takes 3 to 10 weeks, depending on the route and state. Starting the day before your visa appointment or joining date means your documents will not be ready.
Applying for a good standing certificate too early. The certificate has a 6-month validity window for most Jordan authorities. Applying 6 months before your joining date means it may expire before you submit to JNC.
Assuming your Saudi Arabia or UAE PCC covers Jordan. Each country requires its own PCC for the period you spent there. Jordan has its own separate requirement, and your Saudi or UAE PCC does not substitute for it.
Not checking whether your Indian council registration has expired before applying for the good standing certificate. An expired registration means the council cannot issue the certificate. Renew first, then apply.
Submitting experience letters without the correct signatures and hospital stamp. JNC and Jordan employers are strict about document format. A casually typed letter without an authorized signature and hospital stamp will not be accepted.
Final Checklist for Indian Nurses Going to Jordan
Nursing degree attestation started immediately after the job offer was confirmed. A good standing certificate application was submitted with correct timing, not more than 6 months before the JNC submission. Jordan PCC applied for, if required by the employer or visa process. Experience letters from all previous hospitals obtained in the correct format with authorized signatures and stamps. Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the joining date.
